booj battle of the bands
Each year at our annual party, we set a challenge for our boojers. This year it was “The Battle of The Bands”. We created 10 teams and mixed them up so they comprise of boojers that do not work together often. We made sure each team had at least one musical talent. The song could be about ANYTHING, use any musical instruments and fall under any genre of choice.
I must admit that at first we were slightly worried about what the outcome would be...but that's crazy! I mean these are boojers after all…and what they came up with was nothing short of amazing!
Scoring these songs and defining a winner was almost impossible, so much so that we ended up with a tie for first place. We ended up with a rap and a country song taking the lead. We all thought that was very fitting. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did.
We will be creating music videos for the top three spots. Also, keep a lookout for the upcoming CD (let us know if you want to be on the preorder list).
Here are the winners:
1st place tie
into the heart of booj
light that fire (it's back to work)
rocky mountain brushfire
There is one song that I want to make a particular fuss about. We got this submission without explanation and so initially we thought it was a chaotic mix of “music”. As such it didn’t make our top three. However, on the day Matt Emrick (a super talented Deployment Specialist) explained the theory behind the madness. This team wanted to create a song that not only represents booj, but is booj.
“We had no idea how we were going to do that, or frankly what that even meant, so we turned to our company website for ideas,” Matt commented. “We looked at the booj biography, all the descriptions of our departments, the lists of our clients...then it hit us…the code!”
Pieces of code working together create the website you see just like individual notes come together to form a song. They decided to translate booj.com’s code into notes to allow you to hear our company’s website. The process was complex and pure genius! I am going to try and convince Matt to explain the methodology in a dedicated blog post.
The resulting song became a multi-faceted representation of booj. Built on notes translated directly from the code of our website and featuring representations of all the departments that make up our company, it ultimately reflects the increasingly complex and frenzied nature of a booj go-live. I still think we made a mistake in scoring this prematurely. This song IS booj and always will be!
While the rest of the songs did not win, they certainly did not lose. The creativity, execution and originality just oozes out of our teams and can be heard in the remaining songs.
A Different type of Adorbs
a booj above the rest
This song does not have lyrics published, however our boojers have developed a soundboard out of the samples used for this song.
