booj hosts monthly team events in 2018
In the booj office, our mission is to be TRUE (Thoughtful, Responsive, Upfront and Exceptional) in all aspects of our work — both socially and professionally. We treat each other as family, and every once in awhile, we reward ourselves for all of our hard work with a fun event or team bonding activity. Luckily we really enjoy one another’s company, so these team bonding activities are something we look forward to immensely!
Here is a run down of some of the most exciting team events we have coming up this year. These events are for boojers only, but if being a part of our team sounds like a perfect fit for you, you're in luck. We're hiring! Check out our list of available job openings on our careers portal.
Power Breakfast Monday | Every Monday
It’s important to start the week off on a powerful note, so every Monday, we have breakfast catered by a local company. The menu changes every week, but always includes some combination of eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, orange juice and more! This is a great time to greet our fellow boojers, share stories about the weekend, and get ready to hit the ground running.
Escape Room at King’s Escape Room | Sunday, 2/11
Do you think you have what it takes to escape? You’ve probably heard how these puzzle rooms work by now, but if not, here’s the scoop. Guests are sorted into teams and locked in themed rooms. The mission is to escape in less than an hour, but there are so many puzzles, tricks and obstacles to get through, few make it in the allotted time. (Update: All our teams did!)
Painting Class at Pinot’s Palette | Wednesday, 3/7
Pinot’s Palette is a paint-and-sip venue tucked into the Highlands neighborhood of Denver. We booked a private class for the team to show off their artistic side, during which we will all work on a painting with step-by-step instructions from the artist on site! The Pinot’s Palette team provides everything you need for a fun night out, and after class, guests can leave with a memento of the evening! Wine and beer will be provided to help get those creative juices flowing.
Cooking Class at Stir Cooking School | Friday, 3/23: Cooking Class
Located in the historic Weir Building in the Highlands neighborhood, Stir Cooking School offers cooking classes almost every night! Topics range from sushi to pasta and from Greek to desserts — there are even a few classes that incorporate one course from each corner of the world! We haven’t decided what we want to cook yet (voting is in progress), but on March 23 we will gather and try our best to stir, sautée and season our way to success. Wish us luck!
Unser Go Karting | Friday, 4/13
Every now and then, we like to engage in a bit of friendly competition. Unser Go Karting is Denver’s most popular indoor kart racing track, and every year, we bring out our inner NASCAR drivers and Mario Kart racers to the track. May the fastest boojer win!
Giveback Homes Charity Event | End of May (Date TBD)
Giveback Homes is an organization dedicated to building homes for families across the country and internationally, and is dedicated to creating a sustainable relationship between real estate professionals and communities in need throughout the world. At the end of May, the booj team will join in to help build a home right here in Denver for someone who needs it! We have worked alongside Giveback Homes in the past, and are excited to get out there and bond with the team for a good cause once again.
The May the 4th Barbecue | Friday, 5/4
One of the first things new boojers learn is that we have a Star Wars character working among us — and if you haven’t already figured it out, we won’t spoil the surprise. In the spirit of Star Wars Day, we don our booj t-shirts and head out into the sunshine for the first grill of the year. There will be burgers, brats, La Croix and plenty of camaraderie.
Furry Scurry | Friday, 5/5
The Furry Scurry is annually one of our favorite charitable events here at booj, and this year will be no different. Several of our boojers (with booj hounds in tow) will join with 10,000 others for a short 2 mile walk through Washington Park. The event is organized by the Dumb Friends League, and all proceeds will go towards foster care, behavior training and health services for homeless or abandoned pets. There will be vendors, treats, fun events, and (most importantly) plenty of puppies!
Food Truck Fridays | Friday, 6/8 to Friday, 8/17
We like to stay well-fed here at booj, so during the summers, we have local food trucks come to serve up their best dishes outside of the garage. We are so excited to see that some of our favorites from last year are returning again!
6/8 - Farm to Truck
6/15 - Arepas House
6/22 - Sweet Cow
6/29 - Wheels on Fire
7/13 - Church of Cupcakes
7/20 - Meatball
7/27 - Ba-Nom-a-Nom
8/10 - Mile High City Sliders
8/17 - The Road Runner
Camping + Zip/Raft at the Lawson Adventure Center | Friday, 6/15
This is an event boojers look forward to every year! After work on Friday, boojers drive up into the mountains for a night spent under the stars. We gather around the fire to make s’mores and tell stories around the campfire, and when it’s time for lights out, we get to retire to the rustic cabins at the Lawson Adventure Center. The following day will be spent zip lining and rafting down Clear Creek.
BBQ in the Park | Tuesday, 7/3
In Denver, the sun shines nearly 300 days every year, and we try to enjoy it as much as we can! This summer, we have a barbecue planned in the nearby Garland Park. We bring hot dogs, brats, burgers, veggies and more for a fun meal al fresco, and play frisbee and kickball while we’re waiting for the grillmasters to work their magic.
4th of July Fireworks at Ralphie’s Independence Day Blast | Wednesday, 7/4
What’s the 4th of July without fireworks? Every year, WK Real Estate (one of our incredible clients) helps throw an Independence Day Bash in collaboration with the University of Colorado and the City of Boulder. Of course, they invited us all to join in the fun! Live entertainment will begin at 8:30 pm, and the fireworks should start around 9:40.
Rockies Day | Friday, 8/10
Don your purple and grab your cracker jacks, because it’s time to cheer the Rockies to victory! If they don’t win it’s a shame, but we think we’ll all have fun anyway.
Laser Tag at Laser Quest | Thursday, 8/23
Laser Tag isn’t just for kids — in fact, we think it’s one of the most exciting team bonding activities imaginable. Think about it: black lights, fun obstacles, competition and opportunities to roll like Han Solo? Let’s go!
13th Floor + Asylum | Friday, 10/19
To celebrate Halloween, the bravest among us will venture to two of Denver’s most haunted houses for a night of frights and fun. Both houses feature undead spirits, skeletons, zombies, creepy clowns and the like for maximum scare factor, but we think we can handle it.
Halloween Costume Contest + Decorating | Wednesday, 10/31
We take Halloween seriously in the booj office. Creative boojers don their most clever costumes for a chance to win the grand prize. Around lunchtime, we will have some sort of Halloween-themed decorating activity involving cookies, pumpkins and the like.
Thanksgiving Potluck | Wednesday, 11/21
We celebrate Thanksgiving a little early every year at this fun potluck. Everyone brings their favorite dish (from salad to mac n cheese), and we enjoy a family meal before heading out for the long weekend. Come hungry!
Annual Holiday Party | December
Our team works hard throughout the year to develop the latest and greatest technology for our clients. To award everyone for all their efforts, we host an annual holiday party for our boojers. Managers take the stage to talk about their department successes for the year, which is then followed by a team challenge. In years past, the challenge has involved lip sync battles where each team creates a music video to their favorite song — and trust me when I say these videos never disappoint! The night ends with a group dinner, allowing us to spend time with fellow boojers and cheers to the new year ahead.
